Charice Pempengco- The Big Revelation

Okay, so everyone's buzzing about this. I would like to share some insights about Charice's revelation about her identity.

It was never easy for her part to reveal herself as a lesbian in public. After her controversial statement on "THE BUZZ" , she became the word-of-mouth of every people locally and internationally which I think she knew would come. She quoted "Sana someday, hindi na maging big deal yung sexual preference. Kumbaga, pantay-pantay, equality, basically" Charice just wanted to be herself and be free so who are we to judge her right away?

Our family knew Charice even before she gain her fame and made a name in the international music scene. Alden Richards, the actor on GMA, the Magno Brothers who were a member of a Pinoy Pop male group XLR8, Renzo Almario, who was Julie Ann San Jose's competitor on a singing competition, and Mark Herras lived on our village which was really weird HAHAHAHA. My mom used to go to Lola Tess'( Charice's lola) tailoring shop and repair our school uniform; even her Lolo visits our house and pay for the water rent. Some neighbors were actually Charice's classmates when she was on elementary  and shared that the International star  had also experienced bullying.

So going back on the topic, Charice's deserves the capital R-E-S-P-E-C-T ! About the issue of her having a relationship with the A.K.A Jam member Alyssa Quijano, I think it surprised a lot of people. Lesbianism is a widespread and a common issue, the alteration is just that Charice is POPULAR and had a name to look after. A lot of organizations for transgendered, gay, lesbians, etc had a lot of opinions about this but they found it very brave of her to confess her sexuality in public.

Many had their opinions about Charice's change in hairstlye, sense of fashion and changing her Pop/Ballad genre of singing to RNB/Rock. My view on this is that it's her CHOICE! I find it really disrespectful and boorish when other people say  off-putting and destructive comments to her. And so what if she changes her genre to RNB or POP? She's still way better than other singers who's popping right now in the music industry.

Charice was the one who opened the doors to all hopeful and talented Filipinos to shine outside of the country which we really need to thank her for.  I mean, who else can do a powerful duet with Celine Dion? An interview with Oprah and Ellen? Have a more than three standing ovations? And claim the title as the Most Talented Girl in the World?!

Her family may be in a rough situation right now but I know someday everyone will accept her real identity. Let's just pray for them and keep supporting Charice. I know God has better plans for her, so Good luck on your career dude! Make Filipino Proud!

Boybands of 90's

"You make me wanna call you in the middle of the night. You make me wanna hold you til the morning light. You make me wanna love, you make me wanna fall, you make me wanna surrender my soul" - You Make me Wanna by BLUE

"You're my sunshine after the rain, you're the cure against my fear and my pain. Cuz I'm losing my mind when you're not around, it's all, it's all because of you" - Because of you by 98 degrees

"We got a little world of our own, I'll tell you things where no one else knows, I'll let you in where no else goes. What am I doing without you"- World of our own by Westlife

"Feels like I'm walking in the rain, I found myself try to wash away the pain, cuz' I need you to be my shelter cu I'm fading away..." - Walking in the Rain by A1

"Everytime I breath  I take you in and my heart beats again, baby I can't help it, you keep me drowning in you love" - Drowning by Backstreet Boy

Unironically, I'm a  huge fan of 90's boybands and there I cited some lyrics which I occasionally sing at the bathroom :-) I don't have any idea if how many 18 year old like me would still love to listen to 90's boyband songs these days? In an ever-changing-world, there are lots of band/ boybands popping in the music industry but can we really differentiate which one is better? Things have changed, from the way they style, they move, and even the way they approach their fans and gain their fame through social networking sites. If only twitter was invented on the 90's, maybe Backstreetboys had the biggest number of followers. A boyband's success depends on how people will approach their kind of music, the melody of the songs, the lyrics, and of course their pre-packaged good looks plus their fashion sense!

So I've searched some:

  • The Sensitive One: Earth tones, a suit vest and tie, and of course, clean shaven.

The Rebel: A leather jacket, leather pants, a white t-shirt and a goatee. Spiky hair.

The Guy with All The Piercings: He's like the Rebel, but with dread locks, a tribal necklace and as many clip-on piercings as you can find.

The Star: Although it's a group, there's always one member of the band poised for a solo career as soon as he gets the first opportunity. Decide who gets to be the Justin Timberlake of your Boy Band and make sure he's wearing the most cutting edge leisure suit you can get your hands on.

The Jock: This is the role for your buffest friend, so throw him in a muscle shirt with yellow-tinted sunglasses, or give him an open puffy vest and cargo pants for that outdoorsy X-Games look.

Admit it, there were years where you went totally crazy about those bigwigs ! Wherein you can't stop singing the chorus part of their song, you collect posters, CDs and other merch. Girls back then would die just to go to their concerts and be kissed or the chance to be brought onstage! I was just 6 or 7 when I've always wanted to watch MTV with my cousins and hoping any boyband would be appearing in a music video. Here are some boybands close to my heart and will never be replaced:

    BLUE

OOOH! Simon,Duncan, Lee and Antony :">
Who won't even remember these all good-looking brits? They're so popular with their songs Guilty, One Love, If You Come Back, All Rise, Too Close, You Make Me Wanna, Fly By, and even did a collaboration of an Elton John's " Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word" which peaked at number 1 on the UK music chart .Did you know that these guys actually entered in the music industry between the ages 14 & 16 after auditioning for a Simon Cowell show?

Their voice is distinguished, manly and smoky. You can actually say that the song you're listening right now is from them. Some of their songs is about man's feeling or emotion towards a girl they love. Everytime I listen to them with my headset on its full volume, I would really feel that heartfelt sensation, one-of-a kind feeling that even if you're not in a relationship with someone but you feel the sincerity of a guy that gives so much importance to you and will sacrifice everything just to make you happy.

Last February 25,2012 they were a part of The GreAtest Hits tour where they had their concert here at Manila in Smart Araneta Coliseum with Jeff Timmons and A1. These night was the most memorable one. They ended up the concert with the all-time favorite "One Love" and made the girls scream so loud until their throats sore HAHAHA! After the concert, I checked my twitter account and  then I saw Simon tweeted me! Jeff Timmons of 98 degress, Mark Read and Ben Adams of A1 followed me  :">

    98 Degrees

Look at the tattoo, ooh I'm so loving it Jeff!

My temperature rises up to 98 degrees when I knew they're back again and having their package tour on some part of America this year! By the way their new album 2.0 is out now so you better buy now!

Nick, Drew, Justin & Jeff were known with their creamy vocals and the american type of look every girls would want to marry! So popular with their songs Because of You, The Hardest Thing, Thank God I Found You and most admired I do which I wanted to be played on my wedding day if I'm lucky enough to find the right man SOMEDAAYYY!

Some of them have kids already and those girls having the lachey's surname were so lucky!HAHAHAHA! I thought if I everchanged my name to Denise Timmons, does it sounds perfect? Talking about Jeff, he's so nice on twitter! He tweetback everytime I tweet and followed me on twitter last year. By the way, he says HI to all his Filipino fans:-)

Westlife

My ALL-TIME FAVORITE! Meet Shane, Nicky, Mark, Kean and Brian! Originally, they have 5 members but Brian decided to go on his own. Ask me cite some songs! I can name more than any 18 year old know. My friends and classmates always tease me that I'm baduy and so old-fashioned everytime I blab or talk about these guys.  What they don't know is that I look beyond the lyrics of the song, it's not about the physical appearance of those that delivers it but how it affects me when I listen to them. It's something to be fussed about and be given a reward or something for bringing good music.

Whenever I wake up in the morning, I put on the Westlife CD and I think it improves my productivity. I get so hyped up and energize hearing those Angelic voices especially Shane, his vocals comes from heaven I guess HAHAHAHA. Every girls in all walks of life knows WESTLIFE! They're so influential and their songs are so addictive.I even introduce their songs to my little sister which she really knows the lyrics better than me.

I read some tweet recently that she'd rather be single than to be married to a man that's not Westlife looking HAHAHAHA! Sounds funny but that's how a westlife fan think, Westlife mantra is still global and indisolluble even if they were disbanded last October 2011 after their concert here in Manila. But on their concert, they mentioned that they'll be back so I'll wait even if they're hair goes all white!

A1

Boys, you know what? If you can't tell the girl personally how you feel, these English-Norweigan pop group can help you out. From their songs "Like a Rose", "Heaven By Your Side", "Caught in the Middle" , "Walking in the Rain", "Ready or Not" , "One More Try", "Same Old Brand New You" ,"Everytime" and a lot more, I'm very certain that the Girls attention you really like will notice you right away if you sing these in front of them! They're were originally 4 of them when Paul Marazzi decided to go on separate ways. Last 2012, during their concert here Manila with Blue and Jeff Timmons, they individually showed everyone where they're good at. Chris is good at playing guitar, Mark owns the keys of his keyboards and Ben showed of his raw and modulated vocals  which didn't change for so many years! A lucky fan was brought onstage and was serenaded by Ben, ooh lucky girl :"> They did a mash up on their concert featuring their popular songs everytime, like a rose, walking in the rain, heaven by your side and lot more :-)

By the way, last year Mark Read tweeted me 4 times for 4 consecutive days. I told him he's my Piano Man then he tweeted me back that I'm his "MARKeys"- My Keys. Then he changed twitter desc in #PianoMan . I'm so head over heels that time, I can't explain the feeling I get when some of my favorite artists gets to notice and tweet some of their fans all around the globe.

Backstreet Boys

These known American vocal harmony also known as BSB  were so popular that Girls follow them everywhere even if it takes them a lot of money just to watch their shows! What else could I say to these lads? Hmmm, they proved that for 20 years of entertaining and serenading us pretty girls, they proved that they deserved to be called the ULTIMATE BOYBAND of all times! No metaphors or superlative words can ever describe them because they're simply the best! I was one of the lucky fan who went on their soundcheck last June 2012 at MOA Arena. There was a Q& A and a fan asked about BSB's reaction of increasing number  of boybands popping in the music industry today? Nick answered "Well, all I can say is Backstreet's Back so you better watch out". And yeah, they're back on tour  with Jesse McCartney for their 20th Anniversary and having their concert "In A World Like This" - I was really hoping that we'll have the chance to witness another one-of-a-kind concert BSB has been performing around the world. If ever it'll be confirmed, I'll cancelled my plan on watching Bazooka Rocks on August and save money for BSB's comeback in Manila :-)

Oh Araneta, I hope you read this blog and notice that I'm just one a thousand fan here in the Philippines wanting for a "IN A WORLD LIKE THIS" tour in Manila :-)

To end up this blog mine, I'd like to say that Boyband songs are the soundtrack of my life, they're permanently tattooed in my heart and no one can ever replace them. I love new artists and some indie ones, their approach on there music are somewhat entertaining and convincing. For me, whatever genre you listen to, make music as an inspiration and motivation. Without music, everything will be so dull and lifeless. So that's it for now :) Wooh, another blog article is done. I'm gonna eat lunch. bye guys :-)
